Facilitator qualities
Karen’s communication was very clear, timely and professional.
She responded to feedback extremely well, implementing changes and seeking further feedback on that implementation.
She was able to cater for a strongly kinesthetic learner following feedback
Her training delivery was passionate and enthusiastic
She constantly checked that trainees were happy with the material covered before moving on.
Her assessments were very relevant to the material taught.
Assessments were delivered and marked very promptly.
All administration was completed efficiently.
Karen strives to meet the trainees where they are at with their current knowledge and build their understanding from there. This can be difficult for a subject expert to achieve; however, she is able to do this most of the time.
Content
The content was valuable and interesting. The first module was very information dense but that was the nature of the topic.
Trainees were able to relate content of the later modules to their day job and previous experience
Trainees would have found it useful to have photos of what the detail they are being shown is representing
Preparation
Karen was very organised
Extremely prepared with documentation
Delivery
Karen is very passionate, knowledgeable and experienced in the subject – makes it exciting to learn.
She is great at checking in if everyone is on same page and happy to go back over material if needed.
She took on feedback and modified delivery to include pictures and diagrams as requested.
Jo Carter, Building Training Officer, Selwyn District Council
“Working together with NZBTC to develop and evolve the training camp has been an enjoyable and collaborative experience. I am thrilled with the results it is delivering for our business; with self-motivated new Building Control Officers actively contributing to the workload and morale of the Department, along with a collaborative team culture and a training model that is transferrable to other organisations.”
